CEIT provides services for forensic analysis to determine causes of failure. Systematic studies, covering visual inspection, penetrating liquids, optical microscopy, metallography, SEM/EDS,… Typical causes of failure are fatigue, corrosion and stress corrosion, overload, processing defects, precipitates and inclusions, HAZ around welds,…). Back-tracking to link failure with processing or design problems and suggestion of solutions to avoid future failures.
- Identification of failure mechanism (fatigue, corrosion, precipitates, processing defects, HAZ, …)
- FEM analysis of in-service conditions. Overloads and improvement of design
