Jaizki Mendizabal presented improvements in positioning at a symposium hosted by the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
At the Test4Rail symposium on the testing of safety-critical, software-based railway systems, Jaizki Mendizabal, researcher in the Electronics and Communications unit at Ceit-IK4, gave a presentation called “On-Board ETCS Laboratory Testing Tools”, in which he detailed the new control methods that are currently in use in on-board positioning systems.
The work presented by Mendizabal comes out of the railway signalling systems laboratory at Ceit-IK4. The advances made by the lab over the past three years are part of the EATS European project, which is led by Ceit-IK4 and is part of the 7th Framework Programme. The goal of EATS is to improve the testing of ERTMS systems and make progress toward the future implementation of ETCS Level 3.
The Test4Rail symposium was held this past October at the German Aerospace Center’s (DLR) site in Braunschweig, Germany.
