The International Symposium on Laser Precision Microfabrication gets underway in San Sebastián

11 | 06 | 2024

The 25th International Symposium on Laser Microfabrication (LPM2024) organised by the Ceit Technology Centre, will get underway next Tuesday 11th June, at the Kursaal in San Sebastián.

Over 230 people from countries including Japan, Germany, the United States, France and China – among others – will attend LPM2024, the aim of which is to provide a forum for discussion about laser microfabrication, future technologies and the laser market.

Miniaturisation and high precision have become essential requirements in numerous industrial processes and product manufacture. Within this context, the use of approaches involving laser microfabrication has become key for the scientific community and industry. The International Symposium on Laser Precision Microfabrication (LPM) has established itself as a leading world congress in this area has been held in countries including Japan, the United States and Germany, taking place in cities such as Kyoto and Washington DC.

25th anniversary of the symposium

The 25th anniversary of the symposium, at which over 230 scientists, end users, laser manufacturers and industry experts from around the world will attend, will take place next week from 11th to 14th June at the Kursaal in Donostia-San Sebastián, under the title LPM2024. The Ceit Technology Centre has been put in charge of organising the symposium, the aim of which is to provide a place for discussion about essential aspects of laser-matter interaction and the current state of material processing using laser.

It is expected that LPM2024 will play a crucial role in helping to understand not only the fundamental expertise involved in laser precision microfabrication, but also act as a forum for discussion about future laser microfabrication technologies and their application on the market.

Over 190 papers

Over 190 papers on 20 different subject matters from within the world of high-precision lasers will be presented over the four days that the symposium will be taking place, including 3D micro- and nanofabrication, medical and biological applications, state-of-the-art laser processing and also processing using ultrashort pulse lasers.

Additionally, the event will feature three special sessions: “Horizon Europe: towards excellence in laser microfabrication via EU projects”, “Successful cases of laser applications with micrometric resolution in industry” and a special session devoted to the 25th anniversary of LPM.

27 sponsors and collaborators

Its founder, the Japanese association JLPS (Japan Laser Processing Society) is organising the symposium alongside Ceit, and the following leading companies from the sector are taking part as sponsors: DMC (Direct Machining Control), Lasea, Ekspla, Lasing, PI Micos, Light Conversion, n2 Photonics, Photonlines, JMMP-MDPI, Sensofar, Innova Scientific, Fotónica 21 and LIME. Collaborating entities include BRTA (Basque Research Technology Alliance), Aimen Centro Tecnológico, Secpho, Tekniker, the Universitat de Barcelona., Tecnun-University of Navarra, Photonics 21 and EPIC.

Institutional support

LPM2024 will be taking place thanks to the support provided by the City Hall of San Sebastian, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Basque Government and Convention Bureau San Sebastian.
