Ceit jointly organizes, alongside thirty-four other Basque entities, an extensive program for the 9th edition of Emakumeak Zientzian, whose main objective is to underline the importance of shared responsibility between men and women to foster equal opportunities in science and technology through various activities.

The main goal of this edition is to highlight the concept of "Hazia erein / Plant the seed," emphasizing how every small action can make a difference on the path toward equality in science.

The Ceit technology center, along with thirty-four other Basque entities, will participate in the 9th edition of Emakumeak Zientzian, an initiative aimed at showcasing the work of women in science and promoting true equality in the scientific and technological fields. This project, taking place from February 7 to 15, 2025, aligns with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated every February 11.

Planting seeds of equality in science

Under the motto "Hazia erein / Plant the seed", this edition highlights how small actions can create profound and lasting change toward equality. Ceit reinforces its commitment to the initiative's objectives, which include breaking male-dominated stereotypes associated with science and encouraging girls and young women to choose scientific careers, fostering a cultural shift necessary to build a more inclusive science.

An extensive program of activities

The Emakumeak Zientzian 2025 program will feature over 60 activities across the Basque Country, catering to audiences of all ages. Workshops, panel discussions, and visits to research centers will bring science closer to society and highlight the role of women in the field.

The official inauguration will take place on February 6 in Bilbao, in an event honoring the female scientists and technologists from participating entities, celebrating their contributions to the advancement of science and technology.

Ceit opens its doors

As part of this program, Ceit will organize a school visit to its facilities, offering school students the opportunity to get an up-close look at the applied research projects the center develops in collaboration with companies from various sectors. The visit will include a tour of the laboratories and direct interaction with Ceit researchers, who will share their experiences and crucial roles in technological development.

Women in AI
On February 10, Olatz Iparraguirre, a researcher at Ceit, will participate in a roundtable organized by BAIC (Basque Artificial Intelligence Center). During this event, various researchers working in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will share their experiences and reflect on their day-to-day work in this domain. This activity aims to highlight the crucial role of women in a key area like AI, inspiring scientific vocations among future generations.
