Ceit will present its solutions for the digital and sustainable transition of the iron and steel industry at SteelTech 2023

18 | 10 | 2023

The Ceittechnology center will show from 25 to 27 October the latest developments for the steel industry in Steel Tech, the international reference congress and exhibition in southern Europe for the steel sector.

Ceit will participate and present the latest solutions for the digital and sustainable transition of the steel industry at the STEEL TECH congress and exhibition to be held from October 25 to 27 at the Bilbao Exibition Center (BEC) in Bilbao. The event will bring together the main key players of the entire value chain, in a space where knowledge transfer, technological innovation and networking will be the key tools to promote cross-sector relationships and do business.

Ceit has been offering technological support to companies from the iron and steel sector for over 40 years now. Ceit undertakes projects aimed at broadening knowledge, promoting technological advances and improving processing that may help to digitalise plants as well as developing more state-of-the-art and sustainable products and services.

Ceit solutions for iron and steel sector

Productos y procesos sostenibles:

  • New grades of sustainable steels: Design of new compositions and grades of steel to ensure the properties required and to reduce the product’s carbon footprint. Including:

    • State-of-the-art microalloyed steels: Analysis of microalloying strategy to determine its effect on the product quality and processing optimisation.

    • Stainless steels / superalloys: Development of processing solutions and enhancement of behaviour in service.

  • Production of tailor-made experimental ingots: Vacuum casting furnace for the manufacturing of new steels.

  • Optimisation of energy and raw material use during the process: Flat, long, tubes and forging: new processing routes, modelling and thermal treatments.

    • Design of rolling sequences: Analysis and modelling of processing parameters for the rolling mill.

  • Zero-defect production: Analysis of defects during the different processing stages and optimization of the processing route to prevent and to minimise scrap material.

  • Steels for the hydrogen economy: Study of steel quality during the manufacture in hydrogen combustion atmospheres. Study of the fragilization of materials used in the manufacturing of components and infrastructure for the generation, transportation and storage of hydrogen (high pressure, cryogenics, etc.).

Digitalización:

  • Artificial intelligence applied to zero-defect inspection: Contactless inspection of hot and cold parts using AI algorithms and optical image processing to:

    • Detect surface defects.

    • Dimensional control to a high degree of precision.

  • Collaborative and mobile robotics

    • Collaborative robots for process automation.

    • Mobile platforms for logistics applications.

  • Virtual and augmented reality

    • Development of technologies to model the process and simulate robot-human automation
scenarios (digital twin of the process).

    • RA tools for displaying information about the process in real time and operator-robot
      communication interface.

  • Data analysis: Mass analysis of data to enable:

    • Identification of anomalies, identification of significant parameters in processes, prediction models,
      and preventive maintenance.

  • Digital twins: Precise modelling of process behaviour in order to ensure greater stability and efficiency of suchprocesses.

  • Industrial IoT: Creation and management of digitalisation initiatives, capturing the real value of IoT applications.
