Ceit joins AESEMI to strengthen the semiconductor industry in Spain
20 | 12 | 2024
The Ceit Technology Center has joined the Spanish Association of the Semiconductor Industry (AESEMI), reaffirming its commitment to developing a competitive national ecosystem in the field of semiconductors and microelectronics.
Joining AESEMI allows Ceit to contribute its technological capabilities and expertise to an association that brings together the leading Spanish companies in the sector. AESEMI aims to enhance the competitiveness of the national semiconductor industry, provide visibility to its key players, and act as a representative before national and international organizations.
A key contribution through technological innovation
Ceit brings to AESEMI's ecosystem a strong track record in applied research and technological innovation. Through its Electronic Systems and Communications groups (and the Laser group), the center develops advanced solutions, including the design of processors based on RISC-V architecture, which are critical for high-performance embedded systems, as well as the modeling and manufacturing of metamaterials and coded surfaces designed to optimize wireless communications.
Additionally, its work spans the development of communication and sensing systems with integrated circuits for industrial, logistics, and transportation applications, as well as structural health monitoring in complex environments. Ceit also excels in technology transfer activities, leading projects in secure and efficient embedded system design, machine learning algorithm integration, and electronic systems adapted to specific environments, including explosive atmospheres (ATEX).
Ceit's laboratories and technical capabilities include pre-certification testing in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), vibration, and temperature, as well as RAMS analysis and radiofrequency characterization. These tools position the center as an essential technological partner for advancing emerging technologies in the semiconductor industry.
A legacy of excellence and knowledge transfer
In addition to its research activities, since its establishment in 1996 by the University of Navarra, Ceit has combined applied research with technology transfer. It conducts over 100 R&D projects annually and has driven the creation of more than 19 technology spin-offs, generating over 380 direct jobs.
As a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), Ceit actively collaborates within the Basque research ecosystem and works closely with other technological centers and industrial stakeholders.
